Welcome to Zitarelli for Coroner

The main function of the coroner is to determine the cause and manner of death. The State of Pennsylvania feels that this position must be independent and therefore is to be elected. The Coroner does not answer to the County Executive, County Commissioners, the Sheriff, the Police or the District Attorney. The Lehigh County Coroner answers only to the residents of Lehigh County.

Why is Joseph Zitarelli, MD running for Coroner of Lehigh County?

Dr. Zitarelli feels strongly that the optimal person to take on this responsibility is an experienced Physician. For this reason, Dr. Zitarelli has chosen to run for this elected position.

The field of General Surgery includes Trauma and Critical Care as well as knowledge of most other Surgical Specialties. It requires a broad knowledge of Anatomy as well as Physiology. A General Surgeon is trained to obtain a patient's history, do an examination, review tests that were done, obtain additional tests and information, and finally put all of this together to make the final decision about whether to operate or not, and what needs to be done. By virtue of the above, under the law, Dr. Zitarelli would be considered an expert in Medicine and Surgery. He feels that this makes him extremely well qualified to make the determinations required of a Coroner and he is asking for the Citizens of Lehigh County to vote for him so that he can serve his community as County Coroner.

Elect an Expert - Joseph Zitarelli MD
for Lehigh County Coroner

Dr. Zitarelli's Platform is Accuracy and Efficiency.
He has the education and the experience to make accurate decisions.
At this time there is a shortage of Forensic Pathologists and therefore Dr. Zitarelli feels it is important to consider other options for obtaining necessary information. Specifically, in many cases, post-mortem CT Scans can be used to direct or limit the direct physical examination that is necessary preserving valuable resources.
With over 30 years of experience using CT Scans in Clinical Practice, Dr. Zitarelli feels that he can bring this technology to good use in the post-mortem examination making the process more accurate and more cost effective.
He promises to be a good steward of taxpayer money.
